Since 1890, the Westhampton Yacht Squadron (WYS) has promoted and supported recreational and competitive sailing, providing both year round social events and seasonal recreational activities to enhance the camaraderie among the members.

From first time sailors to lifelong racing enthusiasts, there’s a place for everyone at the Westhampton Yacht Squadron. Adult and youth lessons are available for sailors of all levels either in a group setting or in private lessons. WYS also offers Wednesday night informal Sunfish racing, Thursday night informal Flying Scot racing, Defrost Series, Sunfish, Laser and Flying Scot Summer Series, Junior Regattas and a Fall Racing Series.

WYS is open all year round offering various social events and activities for adults and families. Our traditional Flag Raising Ceremony and Annual Fundraiser take place in the spring. On Friday nights members are welcome to enjoy dinner in the main clubhouse. Saturday night events in the summer include a variety of themed functions such as Fourth of July Celebration, Southern BBQ, Lobster Bake, Luau, Movies on the Lawn and much more. Other fun social events include Cooking Classes, Book Club, Trivia Night, Open Grill Night, Mother’s Day Brunch, Father’s Day Dinner, Harvest Dinner, Turkey Bowl...just to name a few. Throughout the year there is always something happening at the club allowing members the opportunity to socialize and meet other members.

The Westhampton Yacht Squadron has a long history of advancing and encouraging sailing and tennis for both children and adults. The Westhampton Yacht Squadron provides youth members the opportunity to learn to swim and also to compete on our swim team, the current “Hamptons Cup” Champions. Our coaches provide a safe, fun and educational environment for those interested in sailing, racing, tennis, youth swimming and youth swim team.

WYS is supported by its committed members who are expected to participate in the wide range of year-round volunteer opportunities. Some examples are Spring and Fall Cleanup assistance, cohosting a social event, helping at youth swim meets, or volunteering on Race Committee. Volunteerism and camaraderie are the cornerstones of the Westhampton Yacht Squadron as it continues to create lifelong memories.
